2nd Week of Prayer: Day 1 – Humble Ourselves

“…if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14-15

Discussion Points for Your Family

  • What does it mean to “seek God’s face?”
  • Reading Psalm 15, what are God’s guidelines for righteous living?
  • Let’s examine our hearts and ask God to show us specific areas of our life that we need to “turn from.”

PRAISE…
Spend time praising God together that we have all we need in Him.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8

CONFESSION…
Confess the areas of sin God revealed to you during the discussion time.

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I, the LORD, search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conducts, according to what his deeds deserve.” – Jeremiah 17:9-10

THANKGIVING…
Spend time thanking God for the joy of walking in humility

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

Prayer Points

  • Ask God to give us a loving heart.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:2-3
  • Pray that we will have the mind of Christ.
“For who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 2:16
  • Pray that we will be examples of humility before others.
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” – 1 Peter 5:6
